Monster of the Day #1312

Couldn’t find a decently sized copy of today’s cover, but I did find the original artwork.

I think Cullen’s theory from yesterday might be correct.

  • Gamera977

I so want to make some crude ‘trying to blend in at a feminist convention’ joke here but that would be some sort of ‘rape’ micro-aggression or other balderdash.

  • bgbear_rnh

I assume she heard that they are hanging men and women for the wearing of the green.

  • KeithB

Isn’t it a bit early to take off the disguise? Not that I’m complaining.
(Ken, did you really use this one because of St Patrick’s Day?)

  • Eric Hinkle

The only one that could have been better than this is the cover art for John Christopher’s THE LITTLE PEOPLE — whip-wielding Nazi leprechauns enslave American vacationers at an Irish castle. Yes, I’m serious.

As for the above, maybe she’s just trying to find out what (Green) men really act like when they don’t know a woman’s around? Hey, they used that plot in almost every sitcom at some point.

  • Gamera977

OMG! I had to look it up and the cover is all you said it was and more!

You have to use this as a MotD Ken!!!

  • Eric Hinkle

Glad you like it. It is seriously nuts, isn’t it?

  • Beckoning Chasm

    Dian Fossey’s great-great-great-great granddaughter.

Despite the obvious distractions, I can’t stop looking at that rock formation. It looks like several creatures are trying to blend in with it.

  • bgbear_rnh

Nazi leprechaun? Oh yes, I know a little German.

  • I think this is my favorite cover so far this week, but not for the obvious reasons.

Oh, who am I try to kid? Of course for the obvious reasons…

  • Flangepart

Mmmmmmm…wait, did someone say something about aliens? Oh, yeah…other things in the shot…ah, who cares.

  • Is she taking off the disguise? Or is she trying to put one on?

  • BobTanaka

So, when do we tell her that all the other aliens are ALSO beautiful naked blondes in disguise?

  • bgbear_rnh

If she is putting it on it will suddenly be that Bugs Bunny moment where she seduces the hunter, prepares to give him a big smooch, and then clobbers him over the head with a mallet.

  • I could gin up some faux outrage if you’d really like, but frankly “balderdash” is a far more polite term than I’ve ever used when describing the ravings of the harpies of the third wave.

  • Greenhornet

    “Harpies Of The Third Wave”.
Wasn’t that a back-up story in the January issue?

  • The Rev.

Sounds like the newest Siffy movie, from the folks who gave us “Locusts: The 8th Plague.” Or as Chelsea called it, “Locusts of the 8th Plague,” hence my thinking of it.

I may not agree with everyone here on every political issue, but damned if it doesn’t make my heart happy to see that disgust with third-wave feminism is strong amongst us.

  • The Rev.

I just looked it up. I am thirding this. I am also going to try to find that story.

  • The Rev.

That sounds like a “Twilight Zone” twist.

If Cinemax had produced it, anyway.

  • It will be now.

  • Eric Hinkle

I know the book is available used on Amazon

  • Third-Wavers have done more to set back the cause of genuine egalitarianism (I personally dislike the term feminist as it implies a promotion of female superiority, rather than equality, whether those that use the term intend it to or not) than the most sexist of the MRAs could ever manage. Mostly because we rightly dismiss the fringe MRAs as the maladjusted looneys they are while for some reason taking seriously the equally maladjusted fringe looneys on the feminist side.

  • Gamera977

After I posted that I did wonder if it was in good taste but figured I’d leave it. Just seems to me that if you’re going to scream rape everytime some guy checks you out in a creepy way doesn’t that kinda well you know trivialize real rape???

  • Eric Hinkle

I’d pay to see a SF movie with that scene.

  • Absolutely it does, and every time a so-called “journalist” can’t be bothered to vet a spectacular rape story before publishing it because it fits their narrative, it makes it that much harder for real victims to come forward for fear of not being taken seriously. Looking at you, Rolling Stone.

  • Flangepart

Perfectly said, G J. When it comes to the unbalanced people, they only difference between them is the style of loonisim, bot the fact of it.
